The members of the Worcester Volunteer Fire Department are proud to have completed another year of providing volunteer fire and rescue services to Worcester township and surrounding communities. We look forward to 2023 being another productive year, as we prepare for the delivery of three new trucks and tackle other projects that will allow us to better serve our community. We welcomed 13 new members to our department in 2022.
Our department responded to 316 alarms, which included mutual and automatic aid assistance to the following 16 municipalities: East Norriton (29), Skippack (18), Lower Providence (11), Whitpain (6), West Norriton (6), Lansdale (4), Towamencin (4), Upper Gwynedd (3), Collegeville (2), Upper Providence (2), Lower Salford (2), Perkiomen (1), Ambler (1), North Wales (1), Montgomery (1), and Upper Salford (1).
Our volunteers contributed 3,775 man-hours on calls, 2,879 man-hours of drills, 1,200+ man-hours of members participating in certification training and driver qualifications, and a total of 235 hours spent on active scenes. These numbers do not include the countless hours of administrative work goes on behind the scenes to allow us to operate. WVFD volunteers also attended or hosted 51 events ranging from fire prevention, community outreach, fundraisers, standby details, and event traffic control. We rely on members of our community to join our ranks and contribute in various ways to be able to contribute this amount of time to our community.
Our ability to provide these services does not go without a deep appreciation for the people and groups that support us. First, to Worcester Township and the Board of Supervisors for their unwavering support, which makes our ability to provide quality service so much easier. Second, to our immediate mutual aid partners who are always willing to help us both on and off the fire ground. This rang especially true this year, and we are grateful for their support. Third, to our Ladies Auxiliary who support us in countless ways, always coming up with new ideas to best support our members and our mission. Finally, to our members. Thank you for your dedication and time commitment to our organization.
We look forward to continuing to serve the community in 2023!
